What Does Pain In The Groin Area Indicate?

My husband had lumbar laminectomy/ discectomy surgery on his L5 S1 on June 7th. His recover had been great so far and tonight he his having severe groin and back pain in the opposite side from the original pain. He is sweating and very pale. Do I need to take him to the hospital? What could be going on?
