What Does Pain In The Arm After Drawing Blood Indicate?

Hi I got my blood taken on Saturday and they put needle in and no blood came out. They wiggled the needle then it came out but with pressure. Now I feel bad pain going down my arm. It feels like the pain is spreading and if I straighten my arm it feels like something is being pulled apart. What is this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems there has been a soft tissue injury around the area where blood has been drawn, due to the application of too much pressure. I would advise you to ice the area twice daily and take an over the counter painkiller like Advil to relieve the pain and inflammation. You can also apply Thrombophob jelly locally for faster relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman,
