What Does Pain Below The Knees Indicate?

I have been having pain of one of my knees (below kneecap) for the past 2 weeks and it has become progressively difficult to do major bending including taking the steps. Today, the other knee started to have pain. There has been no recent injuries. This is random. I am a 43 yo female.
