What Does Pain Behind The Knees Indicate?

I have been having a snag behind my knee when I am sitting on the floor I role over to get up and I get a snag behind my knee. This started about 1 1/2 months ago and it occasionally keeps happening to me. Once I am able to unsnag it (it only takes a few seconds) it hurts but I don t feel any more pain. I can tell it is going to take some time to get over it. It has been harder for me to after I have been kneeling for a while since this started.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to a damage to the soft tissues of the knee joint (cartilages, tendens).

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with an orthopedic surgeon for a physical exam and performing a knee MRI study to examine better your joint.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
