What Does Pain And Swelling In Wrist Indicate?

I hurt my wrist at cheerleading camp yesterday, a girl came down on my wrist hard. It is pretty swollen, and hurts to do simple tasks like open the car door or brush my hair. It also pops/ clicks loudly when I move it, and is sensitive to the touch. Do you believe that it is fractured, or sprained? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Since the trauma was severe, a fracture would need to be ruled out.

You should consider either going to your doctor or the ER for an xray of the wrist.

In the case of a fracture or sprain, rest would be very important so you need to avoid using it.
Ice therapy, a bandage to help with the swelling and elevation, would also help as well.

Anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, naproxen or cataflam would help reduce the pain that you are experiencing.

I hope this helps
