What Does Numbness In The Toes Indicate?

i have a right leg tarsal tunnel realease. the last two toes are numb since the the surgery.i had a near fall due to weakness on the right foot.i had an mri on the ankle and foot and was told i have a neuroma and bunion and akellies tendinosis and another form of tendinosis archeal tendinosis . i also had a brain anyerism on my right side of the brain which has been coiled since. i have 2 anyerisms on my carotid artery of 1mm size i have been having t i a symptoms since the near fall. after my anyerism surgery i was told i would continue to have sypmtoms and i had one last Friday. i also have polystic kidney and liver disease . a hiatal hernia and speratic blood pressusre and heart rythim since the near fall. i tested positive for ddimer and was told to get a vq scan . i have Kaiser and they are reluctant to athourize the test. they did a chest ct with contrast dye only. i am concerned and would like your opinion on what a vq scan entails or what parts of the body should be checked because i am worried i may have a blood clot elsewhere besides by chest. i also had a tonsil echtomy around two months ago as well. so i am not sure what may be causing my esquemic blood flow problem to the brain besides the coratid artery anyerisms which Kaiser is in no rush to fix and told me should not be causing me symptoms . what do you recommend or advise . i get loss of words and weakness in both hands and legs at the time i am having the symptoms and pain in my chest and tightness in my chest so i am really worried about my mortality but nobody else seems to be for what ever reason. please help me resolve this situation.i would really appreciate it . thank you so much. i also have a boieng of the heart valve mitro valve prolapse afib and digestion issues in addition. 0000

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are a variety of reasons people could experience numb or tingling toe and neuropathy is one of this and most common.
Other conditions include multiple sclerosis, diabetes, tarsal tunnel syndrome, peripheral artery disease, and having too much pressure on the nerves. Treatment can be started when the right cause is found. In your case, symptoms indicate that it could be neuropathy or fibromyalgia. I would suggest to do Doppler ultrasound and EMG for a start. Till that check your blood sugar and calcium levels since these causes may lead to numbness as well. Though occasional numbness can occur, persistent numbness and tingling can be an indication of a serious underlying medical problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
