Hi. I am a 60 yr old healthy woman. I had a spinal fusion in Feb and my spine was heading to my left bl so that needed attention too. I have rods and bolts. I have had a high Alk Phos level since 2014. It is now 180. They have determined the high level is from bone and I am having a nuclear bone test tomorrow. What does that tell them. Thanks - Nancy
alk phos is raised in almost all bone conditions including osteoporosis, metabolic diseases, degenerative disease, infections, tumors etc. the prupose of bone scan is primarily to rule out any possibility of tumor or differentiate between infaction, tumor and degenerative processes.
