What Does My Ultra-scan Report Mean?

Hi Doctor,
I had an ultrascan few weeks back and the result shows funda anterior and fundal subserosal fibroid measuring 41mm/42mm and 30mm/32mm respectively. Could you please explain what this result means and the health implication. Also, what are the available options to treat this fibroid.I am 32 years not yet married, no kids yet and having heavy, painful period that clots and the period takes about 10 days.I want to have kids. Thanking you for the reply.

Hi,
thanks for writing in.

Your ultrasound scan shows the presence of two fibroids in the uterus which are probably causing your symptoms. Since you are not married and the fibroids are not very big, you can take medications for a while after consulting a gynecologist. There is a need to repeat ultrasound after 3 or 6 months to see any increase or decrease in size of tumor. If it is further increasing in size then there are new surgical methods which can remove the fibroids safely without any damage to the uterus.
