What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

MONOCYTES - ABSOLUTE COUNT 0.08, BASOPHILS - ABSOLUTE COUNT 0.01,MEAN CORPUSCULAR VOLUME(MCV) 111.8,MEAN CORP.HEMO.CONC(MCHC) 27.3, RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH - SD(RDW-SD) 61.8, RED CELL DISTRIBUTION WIDTH (RDW-CV) 15.2, PLATELET DISTRIBUTION WIDTH(PDW) 9.5, PLATELET TO LARGE CELL RATIO(PLCR) 18.7 . Please let me know these values are normal or abnormal

Hi,

Your MCV value is highly suggestive of macrocytic anemia.

Your RDW value also above normal range suggestive of variation in size and shape of red blood cells that is seen in anemia commonly.

I suggest you investigate with B12 estimation, peripheral smear examination report, HB estimation, serum ferritin estimation to rule out cause for anemia.
If B12 comes low or peripheral smear shows macrocytic red blood cells with hypersegmented neutrophils than B12 deficiency anemia can be the cause.
