Hello and welcome to HCM,
Before explaining the follicular scan, I would like you to understand a follicular scan.
For successful conception, dominant follicles are formed in either of the two ovaries. Dominant follicles are formed mid-cycle (i.e. 14th day in a regular 28 day menstrual cycle, variations can occur).
The dominant follicle releases ovum or egg.
Thus conception can occur when dominant follicle releases ovum or egg.
The follicular scan shows normal sized bilateral ovaries measuring 3.1x2.4 cm and 3.2x2.4 cm.
The endometrium or uterine lining is showing thickening of 8 mm which is normal for 13th day endometrium.
Both the ovaries are showing non-dominant follicles on 13th day of cycle.
13th day of cycle coincides with mid cycle.
Since, no dominant follicle has formed, ovum or egg cannot be released and thus conception cannot take place.

Thanks and take care
Dr Shailja Puri
