What Does My WBC Test Report Indicate?

I just received lab results and my absolute immature granolocytes were .04 and the immature granulocytes percentage of total cells was .6. Both of these numbers were flagged as high. WBC is 6.9. I looked it up and now I am panicking. I have a physical Monday but could you provide some insight?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The increase in the premature cells up to 0.6 can't be considered much elevation. The premature cells can be raised due to leukemoid reactions like in infection.

In leukemoid reaction premature cell can raise up to 30%. Your total count is within limit.

So don't be panic. I suggest you investigate further with the peripheral smear examination report and revert back to me for further discussion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
