Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an office procedure for thrombosed hemorrhoids and for a few weeks afterwards had urinary frequency, urgency, and getting up at night. About three weeks after the surgery while still having some of those symptoms -though less- my PSA was drawn and it had changed from 1.8 to 3.1. I am 64+. Could these events -surgery, symptoms, and PSA be related? My urinary symptoms are now gone with no real treatment Thanks Michael
There may have been blunt trauma to the prostate during the procedure. This can affect PSA levels and cause temporary urinary problems. This is one of the reasons that PSA levels are not taken too soon after any procedure in this area.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
