What Does Loud Snorting Like Gasping For Air In Sleep Suggest?

My husband tells me that I don t snore but rather, I snort while I m sleeping. Very loudly. As though Im gasping for air. I know that I may have sleep apnea but I am not able to take the overnight sleep apnea test as it s unbelievable expensive. The interesting thing is that I have actually caught myself making the exact snorting sound that my husband complains about - during the day. So, it s something related to my breathing and may not be sleep apnea. I just had a bronchoscopy and it was clear. (I have GERDS disease and sleep propped up and have for years. Any ideas or suggestions, short of having the entire sleep apnea test....? Thank you.

It may be sleep apnoea as per your symptoms. But before that upper respiratory obstruction should be ruled out. Second thing is pressure on diaphragm due to obesity and some flatulence as you told that you have been suffering fron GERD. A proper evaluation is necessary.
