What Does Itching On The Skull Indicate?

i am so itchy from the base of my skull down to my mid back. years ago i had the same thing and was told it was some type of fungus and was given horrible red stuff with which I had to wash my hair. Terrible experience the red stuff and I m wondering if there s something else available to get rid of the itching and bumps.

-Use antihistamines orally
-Use calmine lotion for local relief
-Use prescribed corticosteroids in case that it doesn't get better.
