What Does Itching Around The Eyelashes Indicate?

My eyelash lines both upper and lower itch and are weepy. Due to the weepiness I am constantly wiping or dabbing them to absorb the moisture, this causes them not only to itch but also to hurt. Been going on since June. One doctor said it was ezema, put me on steroid topical cream. Did not work. He had said if it did not work might be some sort if fugai. Another doctor said she sees this symptom on other patients and suggests it is stress or anxiety induced. She could not offer any advice. She looked at it and did not think it was fungus.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Do you have dandruff/dry skin on scalp? If you have dandruff then I suggest you to wash your eyelashes with baby shampoo daily for a week.

Are you allergic to any cosmetic products that you are using on eye? Did you have itching like this before? Does your eye turn red? If so then I suggest you to take Patanol eye drops (single drop in each eye every 6 to 8 hours).

Maintain general facial hygiene, wash your eye regularly with warm water and give warm water compression. If symptoms do not subside then consult an Ophthalmologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini
