General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The fact that there is redness, pain and possibly mild swelling at the suture site, shows that the stitches have got infected. You can apply Mupirocin ointment twice a day on the inflamed area, after cleaning with sterile saline or betadine solution.

Please consult the surgeon (who has done the surgery) to assess if you need antibiotics to control the infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajit Kumar Varma
