What Does Hazing In Lungs Mean?

My husband was diagnosed with inoperable stage 4 stomach cancer in June, In July he started Chemo, every other week, not sure of the name of the chemo. Oct 3 he had a ct scan with a dye, it showed the lymph nodes were not any larger than what they should be, it showed some hazing in the lungs, my husband is a smoker, what does this hazing mean?

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Haziness in the lungs is caused by increased absorption of the x-rays. Increased absorption occurs when tissues are denser, thicker, or have a higher fluid content than surrounding tissues.In this case the normal anatomy of the lung i.e broncho-vascular markings are not visible and rather obscured by a thin veil over the lung. A diffuse haziness would usually be caused by inflammation or thickening of tissues and there's a variety of different causes and patterns. A haziness in the lung in your husband's case may be due to pneumonitis (commonly bacterial or viral infection) or metastasis by hematogenous route in view of stage 4 cancer stomach.
