What Does Green Discoloration Under The Breasts Indicate?

Hi my name is John. normally I do not do this but... I m really scared cause I am in post opp and services I was supposed to have did not come into place and I can t see a doc. til monday afternoon at the earlist. I had a green coloration to the skin. it was underneath both breast (I m a man so I m sure it s called something else inches south of the nipple. it was under both. Could go futher around. My surgery was for cholecystitis. it was hemoragic meaning there was bleeding in the organ. it was complicated and they did not remove the duct. This green under both breast is no where near that. the scar from the closest green is 4.5 inches. the scars from the second green are both 5 inches. I wiped the skin down with a baby wipe and it went away for a short time. but it is kinda still faintly green. there was no dirt on the wipe.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are many reasons for the greenish discoloration:

1. it could be a normal vessels called vein which you have seen lately after surgery hence relate to surgery, and no staining on the wipes these are normal and not to worry

2. if it is related to surgery there may be bleeding in these places during surgery due to positioning and strapping to OT table which are getting metabolized and absorbed, hence greenish color due to some thing called Biliverdin in the blood .

3. if it related to injury to the bile duct it will result in generalized jaundice and yellowing of the skin with pain abdomen and unhealthy.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
