What Does Green Bowel Movements In An Infant Indicate?
My baby girl is about to turn 5months. In month of june we got her stool tested as she was passing dark green stool, and there were blood streaks as well. Our doctor recommended stool for reducing sugar test for 3 consecutive days. On all 3 days, her stool showed presence of pus cells ranging between 3-6. Doctor prescribed her taxim-O. We completed d course as per doctor advice. Now again from last 1 week, her poop contains blood streaks. So we got her tested again. 1st day report said occasional pus cells, 2nd day report saying 3-4 pus cell. 3rd day report is still to come. I am really worried. What should i do?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Green color stool is due to viral gastro enteritis and it is common among breast feeding infants. Start her on antibiotic drops like Cefexime and the color will settle once the infection is controlled. Nothing much to worry and continue breast feeding.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
