What Does Grade 3 Placenta In The Ultrasound Scan Report Suggest?

Hello doctor I would like to discuss my ultrasound scan report done at 30 weeks pregnancy. It says placenta has grade 3 maturity and oligohydramnios condition with AFI 8.4 fetal wt is 1.66 kg, FHR is 169.I also had bleeding for 3 days at 24 weeks .LMP is 14.3.14. doc advised ARG-9 till next fetal USG. I want to understand the situtaion and if my baby is ok.

A grade 3 placenta is the maturity of placenta during your current pregnancy and at 30 weeks grade 3 maturation is normal. As AFI is 8.4 it is slightly below normal and called as olighydrominos that is low amount of amniotic fluids and this is a little bit of a concern. Since you had bleeding earlier at 24 weeks for 3 days therefore you should be careful and inform your doctor about any bleeding or leakage of fluids through the vagina. Arginine will help you to some extent and you can continue taking it under supervision of your doctor.

In conclusion placenta grade 3 is a normal finding and please do not worry.
