What Does Fluid Leakage From Surgical Incision Indicate?
this is what the visit summary said, laparoscopic low interior resection, possible open, possible subtotal colectomy. my husband came home with a loop ileostomy and a catheter. the doctor put in a ureteral stent implantation. after having the catheter removed there is a lot of fluid coming from his incision when he urinates. is this normal. I am getting very frustrated that when he urinates more fluid comes out the incision.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There might be extravasation of urine. You have to consult a urologist and get evaluated to look for any leak and communication to the wound. An X-ray may be needed. Most often it will settle by it own and nothing much to worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
