What Does Fibroid On Uterus Mean?

I went for an ultrasound for my stomach because I was in pain...and I am 41 years old..have 2 children. Anyway, my results said..there is an additional less than1cm in diameter hypoechoic area within the uterus possibly representing a small uterine fibroid. So my question is what exactly does that mean? In English please..LOL.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query through HCM virtual clinic.
I understand your concern.
Fibroid of uterus is a non cancerous growth of uterine musculature with no definite cause.. A single muscle cell divides & re devides to form a firm, rubbery mass.. which can be easily identified in wall of uterus. IT may grow very slow or fast. IF it's size is large/ interferes with child birth, it needs removal.
It usually does not interfere with conception. It can resolve after child birth/ menopause.
So the treatment comprises of watch & wait policy.
Thanks.
