What Does Elevated Heart Rate Along With Shortness Of Breath Indicate?

Hello. I ve been experiencing sporadic episodes of increased heart rate and shortness of breath after a flight of stairs. Occasional heart palpitatins as well as heart ache. Currently in work up for possible pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma as increased catecqholaines in urine and plasma. Recent hypertensive issues and now being treated with losartan/hctz. Will see a cardiac specialist next week and adrenal specialist in 2 weeks. Please advise when necessary to escalate care. Thank you fir your help.

Hello. Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. According to me you are being investigated on the right track. Episodic symptoms need to exclude a possibility of phaeochromocytoma. But since you have such episodes with exertion it could be an underlying cardiac issue. Other thing to rule out is anxiety. Do you feel stressed about something which exacerbates your symptoms? Kindly go in as planned by your doctor. In case of symptoms not relieving at rest go to ER asap. Thanks. Hope I helped you with your query.
