What Does Constrictions In Intestines Mean?

I had a colonescopy last week and I have a followup appointment w/ my doctor in about another week.The nurse in attendance said my colonescopy was incomplete because my gastronenterologist could not finish the procedure because I had a constriction on my intestines and he could not finish procedure.What does a contriction on my intestines mean?

Hi,

Constriction means the passage of intestine was obstructed to some extent. In your case, as the colonoscope might not have passed beyond this point of constriction, hence your colonoscopy was incomplete.

Usually this is due to some adhesions in the lumen of intestine due to some previous surgery on the intestine or healing of some ulcerative lesions as a result of some infection etc. Some tumor of the intestinal lumen may also cause some type of obstruction. Investigation of the cause and treatment accordingly, will be needed in your case.
