What Does Chronic Microvascular Ischemic Changes In Brain MRI Suggest?

Hello, I recently got results from MRI of my brain with and without contrast. the conclusions were as follows: Generalized cerebral volume loss and mild chronic microvascular ischemic type changes along deep and subcortical white matter of cerebral hemispheres are noted. What does this mean? Thank you! YYYY@YYYY

Hello

Your findings suggests mild chronic microvascular ischemic type changes along deep and subcortical white matter of cerebral hemispheres.Microvascular ischemic disease of the brain result from involvement of small blood vessels.

Ischemic changes results from blood vessels changes in diseases like hypertension,diabetes mellitus,dyslipidemia.
So,you need monitoring of conditions that leads to ischemic changes like hypertension,altered lipid profile,diabetes mellitus so that further progression of disease can be halted.
You need investigations like routine hemogram,RBS,LFT,RFT,Lipid profile,ultrasound of abdomen.
Treatment depend upon findings.

Generalized cerebral volume loss is age related cerebral cortical atrophy.
