What Does Chest Pain On The Left Side Indicate?

Yesterday morning I experienced pain in my left chest side. A few hours later I felt arrhythmia. This morning I have terrible nausea and acid reflux. Are these classic signs that I could be experiencing cardiac issues? I am a 52 year old breast cancer survivor, 5 4 150 pounds.

I had seen your medical presentation and understood your anxiety.
Left sided chest pain is more concerned for many people as heart is located on left side. But there are many causes of left sided chest pain. It can be muscle pain, lung pain, rib pain or esophageal gastric pain. All these factors are to be considered before diagnosing the exact cause.

Arrhythmia is irregular heart rhythm which causes abnormal heart contraction. But it is difficult to identify. Coming to chest pain, one of the most common cause is acid reflux or gastritis (inflammation of stomach). So these factors are to be considered before confirming the cause. It is better to go for the following investigations:
1. ECG
2. Chest x-ray
3. 2D Echo
4. Gastric function tests

Coming to your case, my opinion is there were no classic signs of heart pain. So the most probable cause might be gastritis, which often mimic cardiac pain. So it is better to
1. start using antacids in the morning before taking breakfast
2. avoid spicy food
3. better to have frequent small meals

So don't get worried you will be relieved soon from your symptoms. You can go for investigations and if any abnormality is there you can contact us at anytime. Hope you will be recovered soon from your symptoms.
