What Does Burning Sensation In The Upper Back Indicate?

I HAVE A BURNING IN MY UPPER BACK NEXT TO MY RIGHT SHOULDER BLADE. THE MUSCLE ALSO HURTS. I VE HAD NUMEROUS STEROID INJECTIONS OVER THE LAST 6-7 YEARS. NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP, I VE TRIED MUSCLE RELAXORS, PAIN MEDS, ACCUPUNTURE, AND PHYSICAL THERAPY. I VE NEVER HAD A MRI OF MY NECK BEFORE AND I THINK IT MAY BE A PINCHED NERVE. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
The burning pain you described with muscular symptoms are more likely to be due to nerve pinching at cervical /upper thorasic vertebrae.
You need to get investigations to confirm your lung normality & CT scan/MRI to note spinal or disc problem.
Exact type &site of the problem would facilitate specific management.
Please consult a spinal surgeon.
Thanks.
