Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bump on my lower portion of my jaw. I had a tooth removed because the dentist said it was the worst tooth out of the 3. My cheek is swollen and feels numb. I was on antibiotics 2 types and no results . Been 2 months and it's really painful at times.
As per your query bump on lower jaw is because the infection is still there and this infection is accumulating in an area and causing continued pressure over the nerve i.e inferior alveolar nerve which supplies the lower lip, teeth, cheek region and due to that pressure nerve irritation and entrapment is there which is causing numbness and cheek swelling. This swelling and pressure can cause jaw bone resorption as well.
I would suggest you to visit your dentist again and get IOPA (X-ray ) of tooth done. After that go with proper incision and drainage of pus from that area, it can be done by aspiration as well. Take proper antibiotic course to subside the infection and prevent further spread. Take painkiller as well after proper aspiration.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
