What Does Bloody Discharge From The Left Breast Indicate?

A friend of one of my friend have a maseptomy done 2 years ago from the right breast. She have been having cancer treatment for what my friend commmeted me . Recently this lady have some blood discharge from the left Breast .can this be a serious Simptom? .

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Detailed evaluation is needed. It could be an early indicator of serious form of cancer called intraductal carcinoma. As she had cancer in opposite breast the chances are on higher side. Get a mammogram and cytology of the discharge. Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.
