I have had several uti in the last year...I have flu symptoms....fever, vomiting, chills and night sweats. Never have I had burning when I urinate, blood in my urine or any other symptoms that are common with uti. Do I need to see a kidney specialist?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Blood in urine and burning sensation can be seen in urinary tract infection (UTI). If it was a single episode which completely cleared up with antibiotic therapy, then there is not much to be worried about. However, recurrent episodes of blood in urine and UTIs need evaluation by a specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
