Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
about a week ago i passed a black stone in stool. i was in hospital for severe pain in upper right abdomen about a month ago, because pain stopped suddenly after 8 hrs of it they sent me home saying it s probably indigestion. nothing showed up in blood. no other test taken. my stool has been normal except a little lighter than usual. i have only had slight pain in same area off and on not much. just did not ever see black stones in stool before.
Noted your history of pain in abdomen on right upper side that settled and they sent you home saying it looks to be related to indigestion, passed black stone in stool, blood tests normal, stool is lighter than normal. The commonest cause of a black stone in stool is a hardened retained stool called fecolith. Another reason can be fistula between small bowel or colon with the gallbladder, the gallstone passes through this. Hence you need to get the Ultrasonography of abdomen for gallbladder and other organs. Send stool for tests. X-ray of abdomen to see if there are any fecoliths still present and if yes then you need an enema to clear these and have stool softener to avoid further fecolith formation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
