What Does An Oily Discharge From The Right Breast Indicate?

I had a hysterectomy a year and a half ago. I just noticed my right breast is leaking a clear oil again. A week after my hysterectomy both breasts leaked the same oily substance and soaked my shirt and bra. Now I just noticed it again tonight. It makes me a little nervous that it happened again.

Hello,

The possible causes for nipple discharge are:
1. Fibrocystic breast disease
2. Galactorrhea
3. Infection like mastitis
4. Mammary duct ectasia
5. Intraductal papilloma

Paget's disease of breast also may cause this problem. Until examination or investigated through mammogram, it is difficult to diagnose.

Please consult your surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
