What Does An Altered Sense Of Taste Indicate?

Have been experiencing weird taste in my mouth for a little over a month. Maybe some bad breath if I don t brush my tongue. Had strep 2 weeks ago but still a weird taste/whiteness on very back of tongue. Still little white splotches on the back of tonsils but not too much. Some times through the day I will become really weak or begin to feel like I have a fever but I don t think my temp. is above 99.5. My bowel movements have changed as well over the past two weeks. Slightly more painful (in lower left abdomen) and loose with color change. Lots of symptoms I know but this is everything I ve been experiencing and I don t have time or money to go to the doctor.

Hello,

Altered sense of taste with the whitish appearance of the back of the tongue and whitish splotches on tonsils appearing to be due to infection only. Also, white coating on the tongue can be due to fungal or yeast infection known as oral thrush.

White splotches on tonsils can either be due to infection or tonsil stone formation. So my suggestion is to consult an oral physician and get evaluated. An oral and throat swab culture can be done for confirmation. For now, gargle with a specialized mouthwash like Magic Mouthwash and maintain good oral hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
