What Does Absence Of Menstrual Pain After Mirena IUD Placement Indicate?

Hi, i had a Mirena IUD placed about 2 months ago and i was told to check it at home, every week. I checked it before having sexual intercourse a week ago and after and i couldn t feel the strings anymroe but I could feel the IUD. I dont have pain or discomfort and had just finished my menstruating before i had intercourse. Does it mean that my body is expelling the IUD?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you are feeling the IUD and not feeling the strings, it says that IUD is present but might have changed its position. Chances for its dislodgement and expulsion seems to be higher in such circumstances.

Kindly consult Obstetrician for its evaluation and proper positioning, which will ensure that it is placed right.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
