What Does Absence Of Fetal Heartbeat At Week 10 Indicate?

I went to get my first ultrasound when I was supposed to be 10 weeks, but the baby only measured 6 weeks and 1 day and there was no heartbeat. I went in 4 days later, there was still no heartbeat and it didn t show anymore growth. Is it for sure a miscarriage, or is it possible its just too early to hear the heartbeat?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The heart beat is normally detected by week 6 to 7, this means that there are likely pregnancy complications.

Your doctor may recheck at least one more time to assess for any change.

Wishing you the best
