What Does Abdominal Pain On The Right Side Indicate?

For the past 4-5 yrs I have been having pain in my right side that doubles me over and I have had 1 hospitalization past 2 months and 3 other visits to ER because the pain is very severe and goes into my abdomen. My bp goes out of sight, ringing in my ears. Went to the x-ray at VA hospital other day and the stated I have prominent renal bilaterally on right side dilated to 2 cm. Lately, since my last episode I have been having pain in my lower back on both sides but not to the extent like I have had in past. Episodes are becoming more frequent. Sometimes I have slight pain when urinating, difficulty urinating etc. I also get pain in my groin area at time when walking or sitting. I have tried to convince my doctor that I felt it was either my kidneys or gaul bladder but she said muscle strain in back. I told her she was wrong in a polite way. Then she said that I was a hypochondriac. I am not.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain in the lower back at irregular intervals, radiating to the groin area and pain with urination are suggestive of of kidney stones. The pain in kidney stones located either on the one side or on both sides of the body where the stone is and usually radiates to the lower abdomen or groin area. The pain occurs occasionally at irregular intervals and the pain may also start when a patient starts to urinate. Sometimes the pain is accompanied with nausea and vomiting. You should get ultrasound evaluation of your both kidneys. Some kidney stones are not visible in ultrasound. If you get negative results on ultrasound the diagnosis can be confirmed by computer tomography (CT) scan.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
