What Does A Tender And Red Rash On The Shin Indicate?

Last night my shin was tender, so I pulled up my pant leg to find a large red rash that is very tender and warm to the touch, but not itchy. it was not there earlier in the day. I can t think of anything I was exposed to out of the ordinary. I was first thinking it looked like flea bites, but it doesn t feel like previous flea bites like I ve had in the past. What could this be? Should I go to the doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The way you are describing your skin lesion, tender, reddish, large, possibility of cellulitis (infection of skin) is more likely. So better to consult dermatologist and rule out cellulitis because cellulitis needs oral antibiotics, painkiller, anti inflammatory drugs and antibiotic cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
