What Does A Sore Area Under Chin Indicate?

I have a sore area just under my chin. Only noticed this in the last 24 hours. Very tender and painful to touch. Cannot find any lump there. Also recently I have a bumpy area about the size of a one euro coin in my scalp just behind and down a bit from my right ear. Are the two connected and do I need urgent medical attention. Thank you .

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

From your description, I would consider the possibility of an acute lymphadenitis.

It is a swelling of the lymph glands below the skin. It could be due to an infection in the area which it drains. In this case, from the scalp/ teeth / beard area.

If you are having any dental caries/ head lice/ sore throat, etc, they could lead to lymph node swellings.

You may need a course of antibiotic.

Hope this helps you.

Take care.
