Earlier this week I woke up with a small patch on my cheek that was peeled I didn t think much of it and then it started watering and I picked at it it then became worse and started to scab and turn red. The same thing happened to my a patch on my chin. I also have a cold sore like scab on my lip but I know it s not a cold sore because it isn t yellow or cold sore like the only reason I thought it was one is because of the position. Could you please tell me what this is and how I can cure it. I am sure it s not a STI but I just want to find out what to do. Thanks milla
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I will keep a likely possibility of Impetigo. It is a superficial bacterial infection of the skin. Impetigo classically presents as erosive lesions which are covered with honey colored crusts Or dried secretions. The area on the face, about the Nose is particularly prone because of the frequent nasal colonization with the pathogenic bacteria, commonly staph aureus. If I was the treating doctor I would have asked you to take a course of an oral antibiotic e.g either flucloxacillin Or cephalexin for a week. Oral antibiotic sare prescription medicines, therefore I will suggest you to talk to your physician for the needful. Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily.
