What Does A Small Dent On The Back Of The Skull Indicate?

Posterior fontanelle - I have a small dent in back top of skull I ve had for many years when I press it it feels like a realise of pressure or a slight bruised feeling, soon after it swells a little like its irritated and a very light headache starts for a small amount of time then dissapears , something to be worried about? It never bothers me just this happens whenever I decided to mess with it ... Don t like the thought of having a weak spot on my skull

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the area gets tender only when you press on it and if it is not changing in size, this is very likely a normal dentation of the skull and there is nothing to worry.
You need to not press on it as this may cause local bruises and cause you pain.
If you notice that the dentation is changing shape or is becoming more prominent or is painful spontaneously you will need a check with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
