What Does A Shadow On The Hips In An MRI Report Indicate?

Hi my daughter was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma 3 years ago and she has had a couple of surgeries to remove the tumours one in her head and one in her thumb, she has received no treatment to date and continues to have 3 monthly mri scans and blood tests, a recent mri scan has shown up shadowing on her hip area can you tell me what this may mean?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi,

Since she is already having sarcoma (a bone tumor), the possibility of worsening sarcoma is more likely for her shadow on the hip joint.

Sarcoma being a soft tissue tumor gives shadowing opacity on MRI. So better to consult oncologist and get done biopsy or surgery to confirm whether it is sarcoma or something else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
