What Does A Rash Behind The Left Knee Indicate?
I have been bothered by some kind of rash behind my left knee, and on top of my left leg for about 3 months. It started as a sore behind my knee, that was open, and I thought it was an insect bite. My doctor, and my daughter (a pharmacist) thought it was Impetago, and I was prescribed Mupirocin ointment. I have been using it for 3 weeks, and occasionally wash with soap and water, and the apply Gold Bond Medicated powder.

It is definitely possible that it may have been impetigo but if the topical only treatment is not working then you may need a course of oral antibiotics such as augmentin.
This would be used if you are still having open lesions or small ulcerations/cuts.
If this is not the case and the lesions are mostly itching and closed, then a mild topical steroid cream may be more appropriate such as hydrocortisone.
Stronger if needed.
