What Does A Pulsating Vein On The Right Side Of The Neck Indicate?

My husband just showed me a throbbing vein on the right side of his neck. He will be fifty seven the end of the month and is the picture of good health. Serious athlete; mountain bikes about thirteen miles twice a week, water skis, paddle boarding etc like a teenager. one hundred sixty pounds with little body fat. A little concerned. He sees the doctor regularly for wellness checks.

* Seems related to transient rise of jugular venous pressure giving pulsatile vein.

* Might be anxiety related or else, if persistent over a period of time
needs to rule out underlying pathology otherwise relax.
