What Does A Painful Spot On The Bottom Lip Indicate?

I had very dry and chapped lips from working/walking outside. I peeled them and now I have a painful spot on my bottom lip towards the inside where I bit the skin off. Not on the border. There s a slight bump with no fluid in it and it doesn t hurt. What could this be? I m pretty sure it s not herpes but I guess it could be?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should get it examined, I see the need for it to get medically evaluated. Many a times such painful spots can be harmless. But not always. You ought to get a blood examination done to rule out bacterial or viral infections. If it is Herpes you need to get under treatment at the earliest. Conditions like thrush or herpes can be diagnosed by visual inspection and does not require any tests or investigations. You may need to get biopsy done to rule out cancer. Don't get scared, take appointment & see a doctor at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
