What Does A Painful Bump On The Lower Gum Indicate?

Hello, I have a bump on my lower right gum that is very sore. It is located beside my second last (back) tooth. That tooth has been sore for about 3 weeks. A trip to the dentist gave me no answers. Is it possible that I am grinding my teeth which may have caused this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painful bump on the lower gum area which seems to be due to gum boil, gingival and periodontal abscess as there must be presence of infection near second molar tooth area.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician once and get complete examination done. You should get IOPA of second molar tooth done to find out exact cause of infection and start treatment accordingly. Go for root canal treatment if it is tooth related and other go for scaling and cleaning of quadrant if it is related to gingival/periodontal abscess. You should maintain complete oral hygiene as well.Take proper antibiotic course to subside the infection and prevent further spread.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
