What Does A Mole On The Back Indicate?

I m not sure when, I never thought too much about it, but I noticed a new mole-like thing that appeared on my back, I know for sure I never used to have it and I think it appeared last year or maybe 2 years ago, at first I thought it might have been a pimple, because it s soft and squishy, but it wouldn t pop as easy as it should have so I stopped immediately and looked at it in the mirror and it has the color of a mole, but I m worried because it doesn t feel like any mole I ve seen, and it itches from time to time, kind of irritated feeling, and I don t know, it s worrying me a lot and I m wanting to know if I should get it checked out, from what I ve told you (which I know isn t much), do you think I should get it checked, I ll put it in bullets of things I know about it -came about a year or two ago -soft and squishy -kind of the color of a mole -itches time-to-time -as for changing size, I don t know because I never thought to keep an eye on it until the other day when I thought about the fact it could possibly be cancerous, as of the other day it hasn t changed but it s only been a couple days

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Mokeas are common and most of the times does not cause any concern. But you are right, rarely it maybe cancerous. The following points in a mile need urgent assessment.

The raised lesion, deep black colour, change in colour, the rapid increase in size, irregular borders. Any of the above should raise suspicion though not necessarily mean cancer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
