What Does A Mass Around The Intestines Post Bowel Resection Indicate?

My brother was diagnosed with this condition, had surgery to remove half of both large and small intestines today, but still has a mass that could wrap around the intestines and kill it off. The surgeon has never seen anything like this. What is this and what more can be done for him?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per the description, the sudden appearance of previously not seen mass before surgery can be possible postoperative hematoma or collection from anastomosed intestine leakage most likely.

However, details of CT findings are very much appreciated to guide in further correspondence to this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
