General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As lump in your breast is hard to touch and firm in nature, so I will advise you to do mammography or fine needle aspiration cytology after onco-surgeon opinion.

The common causes of lump in breast are:
1) Duct obstruction
2) Mastitis with abscess
3) Fibro-adenoma
4) Cancer

Can I come to know whether you have any swelling in the axilla? Whether this lump is painful or painless? Any discharge from nipple?

I will suggest you to review here with detailed history or consult with the surgeon as not every breast lump are cancerous in nature.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
