What Does A Lump On Ribs Indicate?

my son 13 years old broke the right side of his collarbone 12 day ago. He broke the left side of his collarbone back in January. He broke a thumb last year. And in 2012 he broke growth plate, fibula and tibia in right ankle. I have noticed since his last bone break 12 days ago his appitite has gone way down. Two days ago he complained that his knees hurt when going yp and down our stairs. Just now I noticed a lump right at the bottom of his left ribs. Can you give me any guidance?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This is very likely to be a benign mass like a lipoma. I suggest you to do a physical examination and an ultrasound to precisely confirm the diagnosis. Most of the time lipomas are not anything to worry about.

If it becomes problematic and show symptoms, you can consult a surgeon for following treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
