I am 80 years old, have not smoked in 20 years, have no family history of cancer but on a routine chest xray ordered as part of an annual physcial, the radiologist discovered a dime sized lesion which could be scar tissue or something else. What should be my next step?

Hi There

After going through your query I understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that a single round or oval growth in your lungs is called as a solitary pulmonary nodule or a solitary coin lesion generally an accidental finding in chest x-ray or CT chest. Generally it causes no symptoms but should be evaluated for cancerous or non-cancerous nodule.

Kindly get a Biopsy done & consult with a Pulmonologist for further evaluation and Management.

Hope to have been Helpful.

Kind Regards
Dr. Navneet Bansal
